What is this "Wiki"?

Peace Corps Wiki is an online database of information about Peace Corps that invites all users to edit any page or to create new pages within the PeaceCorpsWiki website.

It seeks to involve the visitor in an ongoing process of creation and collaboration that constantly changes the Web site landscape. These articles can be edited infinitely to create content that many users agree on. Edits can be compared side by side to determine their contribution to the article.

Peace Corps Wiki began as a non-profit organization and is not officially associated with the Peace Corps. It is a volunteer-run website that welcomes contributions from anyone.


Peace Corps Wiki is a collaborative project whose goal is to create a free, interactive, and up-to-date source of information about serving as a volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps. Anyone, from Returned Volunteers to future Applicants, are welcome to edit any entry, or start a new one.

  1. Provide a forum for RPCVs, PCVs and people with an interest in Peace Corps.
  2. Store online documentation of what volunteering as a Peace Corps volunteer is like. Serving for two years in the Peace Corps may seem like a long time, but Close of Service may come faster than you expect. Volunteers can make the most of their time in-country through well organized material, collaboration and knowledge sharing.
  3. Promote institutional memory building within the Peace Corps.
  4. Expose and diffuse volunteer input that may help the in process of reform and growth at the administrative level of PC, which with intern shape future policy and training.
  5. Showcase the skills and accomplishments made by a wide cross section of volunteers.
  6. Spark the imaginations of those future volunteers and visionaries that have yet to join PC.
  7. Provide an expandable and up-to-date resource to communities, RPCVs, and current PCVs on Peace Corps.


YOU! The wiki is a publicly edited series of articles; through discussions and resolution building between users, admins, and anonymous contributors articles are meant to shape an objective view of a particular aspect of Peace Corps.


Some of the folks that have helped shape the Peace Corps no particular order...add yourself if have done work on part of the wiki:

  • Mike Sheppard input the welcome books and countless reports and FOIA docs
  • User:Sergtpeppa has worked on the organization the volunteer pages, and projects; especially those relating to Northern South America.


Starting in June 2007 this wiki was generously hosted by By mid 2009 it was clear that a faster more flexible platform was needed. In early September 2009 an emergency switch was made to the Amazon E2 hosting cloud. This was necessary to handle the load demand and growing size and complexity of the wiki and it's extensions.


Peace Corps has been ongoing for the past 40+ years, but very few volunteers know the history of Peace Corps in their country, or even their site:
