Uganda Office Renovation

Info about the Uganda Office Renovation
Based on the inquiries and desire of many students and members of the community a teacher’s college in Uganda wishes to create a warm and conducive environment to facilitate guidance and counseling as well as to provide up-to-date information on HIV/AIDS.
The Ministry of Education and Sports will provide supplemental reading material and two staff members trained in Guidance and Counseling. The teacher’s college will provide the office space—albeit dank—and labor costs for the project. We hope to acquire a Partnership contribution to allow the renovation to proceed and to successfully create a place for students, staff and community members. This sustainable Guidance and Counseling office will allow people to sit, relax and share their thoughts and concerns with an emphasis on HIV/AIDS awareness and any other topics requiring guidance. In the past students have seemed eager to have a proper space to seek guidance, but currently avoid requesting help, as the teacher’s college lacks a space in which the students can feel comfortable.
The immediate goals of this project include renovating the office into the abovementioned environment and holding inter-semester workshops at the college. With the expected influx of community members to the Guidance and Counseling office, future plans include the generation of clubs and outreach programs by the students and staff of the teacher’s college. With these clubs, the facilitation of outreach in HIV/AIDS awareness can trickle down to those in Secondary and Primary School as well as those members of the community who may be unable to attend school.
