|−|Within the last five years, the citizens of Gape-Nyassive have actively pursued an action plan to improve the level and quality of education available to the students in their village and surrounding areas. The village alone has approximately 2,500 residents and is at the center of the canton, which comprises roughly 20,000 people. Many of the surrounding villages, in which there may only be an elementary school, send their students to attend middle school in Gape-Nyassive. Although the community has suceeded at building and effectively running a middle school, there is still a lack of educational support in terms of materials, resources, and information. |+|

|−|In order to fully support the learning of their students, community members feel that these students need books - textbooks and additional reading materials - and a space for learning outside the classroom. The village is now requesting Partnership assistance to build a cultural center and library. The building will be used for women's literacy classes, student group meetings, trainings, and community meetings. Partnership funds will be used to purchase the necessary equipment for such an endeavor. The community will be contributing labor costs. |+|
