Info about the Secondary School Teacher Housing

The Community Day Secondary School is among the many rural schools facing an acute shortage of teacher housing, which impacts pupil achievement and the quality of teaching. New teachers fail to come to our school due to lack of housing in an already remote environment. The provision of inadequate housing has been a factor in our school’s ability to attract certified teachers. Currently, we are not considered competitive. In light of this problem, the school committee and community members felt it necessary to request donor assistance for construction of two teachers’ houses close to our school.

The objectives of this project aim to provide housing for two certified teachers. The availability of two houses is desirable to stimulate interest among teachers to accept job postings at our school, as well as to offer a home as an incentive to motivate them professionally. In addition, the project will improve teachers’ punctuality. When teachers arrive at school on time, their actions help pupils to be punctual for lessons and it encourages them to be prepared to learn. In an event when teachers chronically fail to be punctual, a pupil is never trained to manage time, which is a prime characteristic for development and success.
