Appeal Memo Response December 3rd 2010
Ms. Miller This request is completely within the scope of what is releasable under FOIA . These documents and/or abstracts should be ready available in a table or summary format and that maybe provided prior to the delivery of the full request. Please describe this "alternative time frame for completion. "
Appeal Memo November 26th 2010
This is in response to your Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request. Specifically, you request, “1) All Lawsuits against Peace Corps since 2000 please include summaries with information about the plaintiff and case proceedings. 2) All Lawsuits related to Peace Corps failure to comply with FOIA statutes since 2000.”
Your request involves a "voluminous" amount of records which must be located, compiled, and reviewed. While the search for records began in August 2010, it has been determined that the search process could continue for several more weeks. Time will be needed to complete the review process of each document. When there is a need to search for, collect, and examine a voluminous amount of records the agency must allow the requester an opportunity to modify his or her request, or to arrange for an alternative timeframe for completion of the agency's processing.
If you decide not modify your request, please know that it is anticipated that it will take another eight weeks to process your request. If you have questions regarding this response, please feel free to contact me at (202) 692-1236 or email@example.com.

Appeal Memo November 1st 2010
Dear FOIA office, Could you please alert me to whether a case appeal number as been assigned and what that number is.
Appeal Request October 25th 2010
This is an appeal under the Freedom of Information Act, 5 U.S.C. § 552.
It has been WELL over 20 business days since my request was received by your agency on August 3rd 2010. This period clearly exceeds the 20 days provided by the statute, thus I deem my request denied. A copy of my correspondence and the email form showing receipt by your office with be forwarded.
The information which I have requested is clearly releasable under FOIA and in my opinion, may not validly be protected by any of the Act’s exemptions. I trust that upon re-consideration, you will reverse the decision denying me access to this material and grant my original request.
As I have made this request in the capacity of a (scholar/news service/interested member of public/etc) and this information is of timely value, I would appreciate your expediting the consideration of my appeal in every way possible.
Thank you for your assistance.
