The community of Los Lirios has been working on reconstructing the local school. The school is the only resource, public or private, in the community. It serves students with mild to severe learning challenges, students significantly overage for their grad level, students struggling with drug additions, and students dealing with other conditions which can stop educational pursuits. This project has had tremendous community support, with over 10 significant community donations. However, it has also been plagued by unforeseen setbacks. Torrential rains flooded out two older classrooms resulting in their demolition and there have been several robberies at the school. The community is requesting Partnership assistance to purchase the materials needed to build a perimeter fence. The fence will deter future vandalism, robberies and potential gang or drug activities. To safe guard the construction material a community watch brigade will patrol during the construction. The community will also contribute labor and construction materials for the remaining classrooms. | The community of Los Lirios has been working on reconstructing the local school.
