The Peace Corps forestry program in Western Samoa (now Samoa)started in 1967 with group 2 with a specific request for a forester to carry out a comprehensive forest inventory of the island of Savaii. In addition, the volunteer was to train 10 forestry assistants in forestry practices, conduct various silvicultural studies, and assist in developing the forestry division. In 1970, two additional Peace Corps forestry volunteers arrived in country. I was that first forester and would welcome more specific inquiries at my e mail address.
