Information technology
From Peace Corps Wiki
Due to a lack of resources and education, many of the world's developing countries have been unable to take advantage of the advances in technology. Today, however, Peace Corps Volunteers are working to help people in these communities take part in the info rmation and communications technology (ICT) revolution.
ICT Volunteers help communities and organizations capitalize on available and appropriate info rmation technologies, helping to bridge the divide between those who can afford access to technology and those who cannot. They identify innovative approaches that enable resource-poor communities to use info rmation and communications technology for their own development purposes.
ICT Volunteers typically have backgrounds and degrees in computer science, info rmation systems, mass communications, graphics design and knowledge of or experience in basic computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and databases and/or other multimedia platforms (e.g., audio/radio, video/television); and strong leadership and organizational skills.
