History of Guayaquil

During the 90s, Guayaquil was restricted as a Peace Corps site due to crime and other urban dangers.

Transportation

As a major Ecuadorian city, Guayaquil has buses which leave to almost all parts of the country. A new terminal terrestre (bus terminal) was recently opened in Guayaquil (affectionately known to volunteers as "el Super Terminal"). Flights leaving to the Galápagos Islands generally leave from Guayaquil.
