Info about the Gouka Well Construction
The District Health Center of Gouka provides services to over 25,000 people in twelve villages, but lacks one vital element to sustain activities; continuing access to potable water. A recent survey of local water supplies identified forty four pumps or wells in the twelve villages. This translates into 550 people per source, which is significantly inadequate during the six-month long dry season. Two years ago the Gestation Committee of the Health Center (COGEA) began putting money aside in order to fund water projects. they have financed cisters (rainwater storage tanks) and now have a monthly budget for water expenditures, as well as a fund for the construction of a new well. In order to complete the well the COGEA has requested Partnership assistance in financing the construction of this essential new well.
