The objectives of this project are to:<br /> <br /> Provide farmers access to farming tools and supplies at affordable prices (e.g. seeds, fertilizers, and sacks for storing grain available for purchase; donkey plows and carts available for rent) that appropriately coincide with Niger’s seasonal farming calendar.<br /> <br /> Train cooperative members on small business management skills and improve their capacity to define and meet group goals.<br /> <br /> Create communal monetary funds to ensure the sustainability and expansion of future cooperative activities and services.<br /> <br /> The community will contribute to this project by providing the donkeys needed to operate the plows and carts, as well as two buildings in which to store tools/supplies. Cooperative members will contribute by paying initial membership fees and covering the fees required to register the cooperative with the government of Niger.<br /> <br /> The total sum requested for this project will cover the cost of initial inventory (donkey plows and carts, seeds, fertilizers, grain storage sacks, etc.), transporting tools/supplies to the community, and training members on small-business skills and the proper use and maintenance of tools. All profits generated by the store will be deposited in the cooperative’s monetary funds.
