[edit] Project Cameroon

PC Cameroon.jpg

"This map was created by a Peace Corps volunteer in Cameroon, with students who were members of the environmental club in their village. It was meant to serve two purposes...first, to provide a map of the African continent for the school so that students could learn geography, and second, to do this in an earth-friendly way. The map is actually a batik on cotton, using all natural dyes. For example, the brown/khaki tones were made by boiling onion skin and using the resulting water for the dye. Similarly, the maroon/purple colors were resulted from a dye made by boiling the petals of a particular flower that is widespread in the northern part of Cameroon."
